Dear Friend,
Welcome to the inaugural edition of The Field Report, where we're thrilled to report that our opening matches this Monday unfolded flawlessly, heralding a fantastic start to our polo season. The competition was fierce, with each match closely contested, demonstrating the competitive nature and determination from all our teams.
The highlight of the day, however, came during the final moments of the last match. In a gripping endgame, the Vikings and their opponents were locked in a tense scramble for the ball. It was Ned's strategic attempt to hook Vince that nearly turned the tides, but fate had other plans. In an astonishing twist, Vince's horse delivered a lucky, albeit accidental, flick of the hoof, sending the ball just over the goal line by the slimmest of margins—securing a thrilling last-minute victory for the Vikings.
Amid the day's excitement, several players stood out with commendable performances. Lucy, donning the Spartan colors, showcased her prowess by netting an impressive two goals against the fiercely competitive Vikings. Meanwhile, we were delighted to welcome two new faces to the field: Mary Katherine and our new Huntsman, Sam Clifton. Both newcomers, with Sam having a bit more experience and Mary Katherine stepping onto the field for her very first match, made their presence felt by each scoring a goal, contributing to the day's competitive spirit.
It was a day filled with heart-stopping moments, remarkable talent, and the joy of polo, setting a high bar for the rest of the season. Stay tuned for more updates and highlights in The Field Report, as we continue to celebrate the passion and prowess of our players and teams.
Sincerely,
The Wateree Hounds
