Wateree Hounds envisions a vibrant community where the rich equestrian traditions of Camden and Kershaw County are celebrated, preserved, and accessible to all. We see a future where fox hunting and amateur polo continue to thrive, fostering a deep connection between people, animals, and the land. Our vision is of a region where these time-honored practices serve as a cornerstone of cultural identity, economic vitality, and environmental stewardship, inspiring future generations to cherish and sustain our unique heritage.

Our Vision

The mission of Wateree Hounds is to preserve and promote the equestrian traditions of Camden and Kershaw County, with a focus on fox hunting and amateur polo, while serving as a vital community resource. We accomplish this by:

  1. Organizing and hosting public events, including fox hunts, polo matches, and educational programs, that are accessible to all members of the community.

  2. Maintaining a pack of hounds and essential facilities to support our sporting activities and community engagement efforts.

  3. Conducting fundraising events and producing publications that celebrate our heritage, support our operations, and contribute to local charitable causes.

  4. Promoting responsible land management and wildlife conservation practices, ensuring the sustainability of our sporting traditions and the preservation of our natural landscapes.

  5. Fostering partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and government entities to enhance the cultural and economic vitality of our region.

Through these efforts, Wateree Hounds strives to enrich the lives of our community members, preserve our unique cultural legacy, and ensure that our cherished traditions continue to thrive for generations to come.
